Scalp vein sets are primarily used for the following: Venipuncture or the collection of blood from a vein to obtain blood samples for tests and at blood banks on blood donors. Scalp vein sets are commonly used to perform difficult venipuncture procedures such as in older adults, children, and infants.

There are two main cannulas: the nasal cannula and the intravenous cannula, also known as the IV cannula. The IV cannula has three subsets, the peripheral IV cannula, central line-IV cannula, and mid-line cannula.

Non-vented IV sets are just the opposite of vented IV sets - they don't have any vents in the tubing. Non-vented IV sets work great with flexible plastic containers like the Homepump Eclipse or MEDI-FLO® elastomeric pumps. Non-vented tubing must also be primed to rid the tube of air.
